History
School of Nursing was established in 1983 for Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery program. At that time number of students were 158 (130 students for Nursing & 28 for Midwifery). Now Government of the Punjab has upgraded the school of nursing into College and intake of students has also been increased upto 100 per year. Govt. Of the Punjab has also introduced afternoon program in which 400 students will study and total number of students will increased upto 800. Diploma of nursing program upgraded into BSN for 04 years’ program therefore 800 students will study at once. BSN program consists of 04-years program and there are two sessions (morning and afternoon) in which 800 students nurses will get training at once.
Importance of BSN Nursing:
BSN Nurses can enjoy carrier advancement, a greater knowledge of Nursing, and reading for Graduate Study or advanced practice Nursing.
Nurses who hold a BSN can provide a higher quality patient care and qualify for positions with more responsibility and leadership roles.
Generic scope of BSN:
A BSN degree offers more advanced education in Nursing theory and practice and opportunity for specialization and carrier advancement. Additionally, Hospitals and Clinics in Pakistan give preference to well educated nurses having BSN and higher degrees.
