The 12th Monthly Meeting of the Pakistan Society of Anaesthesia
The 12th Monthly Meeting of the Pakistan Society of Anaesthesia was held on February 11, 2025 (Tuesday) at Faisal Masud Tower, Services Hospital, Lahore. The event was graced by Dr. Syed Irfan Qasim Ali, a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist & Interventional Pain Specialist from Harvard University, Brigham and Womenโs Hospital, currently working in Dallas, who served as the Chief Guest. The meeting was organized under the patronage of Prof. Zohra Khanum (Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences / Services Hospital Lahore) , with Prof. Liaqat Ali (HOD Anesthesia SIMS, Lahore) as the Organizer. A distinguished panel, including Prof. Khalid Bashir, Prof. Leena Aziz, Dr. Atiq Ghafoor, and Dr. Shahzad Anwar from STPS Faculty, contributed to the discussions. The event also welcomed esteemed guests such as Dr Arshad taqi (Indus Hospital), Prof. Jodat Saleem (LGH, Lahore), Prof. Ashraf Zia (AIMC, Lahore), Prof Nyka Asad, Prof. Zara (KEMU, Lahore), Prof. Farrukh (KEMU, Lahore), Dr Asiya Atqi (Doctors Hospital), Prof Mudassir (PINS, Lahore) and Dr. Saad (SKMCH & RC, Lahore), Dr Azam (AIMC, Lahore). The primary focus of the meeting was chronic pain management, exploring treatment options, recent advancements, and comparative practices between the USA and Pakistan, with a special emphasis on adapting state-of-the-art modalities to a resource-limited healthcare system. Dr. Irfan Qasim Ali also shared details of his humanitarian efforts in Gaza, where he and his team provided critical support to the devastated Palestinian Muslim community. His contributions were invaluable in alleviating suffering and bringing hope to those in desperate need.
