Hands-On Training Workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation
The workshop was organized under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Zohra Khanum – Worthy Principal, (SIMS), Lahore And under the leadership of: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafique – Dean and Head of Pediatrics, SIMS, Lahore
Objectives
The objective was to contribute to reducing Pakistan’s Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) by training junior doctors and nursing staff and to improve neonatal health outcomes through capacity building.

The workshop emphasized critical, evidence-based practices in neonatal care, with a strong focus on:
Sepsis prevention protocols
Delayed cord clamping
Immediate skin-to-skin care
Promotion and support of early breastfeeding
A rigorous, hands-on practical session dedicated to administering Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) within “The Golden Minute.”
