Cervical Cancer Awareness Program
A Cervical Cancer Awareness Program was successfully organized by Prof. Khadija Waheed, Professor of Gynaecology, Unit III, Services Hospital Lahore, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Zohra Khanum, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences / Services Hospital Lahore. The event aimed to highlight the importance of cervical cancer screening and prevention through education, vaccination, and collective action.
The program began with an insightful talk on Cervical Screening delivered by Prof. Rubina Farrukh, who emphasized the role of early detection through regular Pap smears and screening methods in reducing cervical cancer-related morbidity and mortality.
This was followed by a comprehensive session on Prevention of Cervical Cancer and the Role of HPV Vaccination, presented by Prof. Amina Zia. She highlighted the significance of the HPV vaccine as a powerful preventive tool and stressed the importance of integrating vaccination programs into routine health services to protect future generations.
After the academic activity, a Walk for Awareness of Cervical Cancer Prevention was conducted, symbolically led by Prof. Dr. Zohra Khanum, Principal SIMS. The walk brought together doctors, staff nurses, and paramedics, all joining hands to raise awareness and spread the message of prevention within the hospital and wider community.
The event served as a strong reminder that cervical cancer is both preventable and treatable when timely screening and vaccination are practiced. It also reflected the collaborative spirit of healthcare professionals at Services Hospital in working towards a healthier society.
