In recognition of September as PCOS Awareness Month, the Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases, Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), organized a seminar titled Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Guide to Early Diagnosis and Management. The event, held on September 26th, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the SIMS Auditorium, was led by Professor Khadija Irfan Khawaja.
The occasion was graced by Principal Professor Zohra Khanum, who served as both the Chief Patron and Chief Guest.
The seminar featured an esteemed panel of specialists from endocrinology, gynecology, and dermatology, including Prof. Khadija Irfan Khawaja, Prof. Tayyaba Waseem, Dr. Amena Moazzam and Dr. Hira Tariq. With decades of expertise in their respective fields, the speakers emphasized the significance of early and accurate diagnosis of PCOS, alongside the vital role of lifestyle modifications and mental health support in managing the condition.
The session included valuable insights from the panelists, complemented by two short educational videos on lifestyle changes and psychological care for PCOS patients. The seminar concluded with expert comments from Dr Amna Rizvi and Dr Mehwish Iftikhar. In her closing remarks, Principal SIMS, Prof. Zohra Khanum, underscored the crucial importance of precise diagnosis for effective management of this common but often misunderstood condition.
