SIMS HISTORY
Services Institute of Medical Sciences Lahore (SIMS) Established: 2003.
The initial classes were held in PGMI/old Allama Iqbal Medical College at Birdwood Road Lahore. Sooner various disciplines were shifted to Services
Hospital, a 1450-bedded hospital, in a new centrally air-conditioned majestic building facing Race Course Park at Jail Road. This WIFI-enabled building has purpose-built academic departments, lecture theaters, auditorium, classrooms, laboratories and student libraries.
The Skill Development Center and the Experimental Lab of SIMS are the hallmarks of modern learning and teaching modalities, which are contemporary to the instructional strategies adopted at SIMS.
The faculty of SIMS is qualified, senior faculty which is proven by the fact that SIMS is at number three on merit in Punjab in a short period of 19 years. It has all the modern facilities for its students, and admissions have increased from 150 to 230. The annual college magazine (SIMSONIAN) is the official magazine being prepared and exhibited by students and faculty.
ESCULAPIO is a journal by SIMS that is recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad, publishing academic publications and articles.
Services Hospital, Lahore (SHL) is the teaching hospital affiliated with SIMS and is one of the premier hospitals in the province with 1600 beds and caters to different specialties. It has a fully functioning emergency department with complete diagnostic facilities.
A dedicated radiology/specialties block has been fully established, which caters most recent diagnostic radiological facilities and purpose-built Neurology, Pulmonology, Thoracic Surgery, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, ENT Wards, and Operation Theaters.
The hospital also has a seven-storied OPD Block, which caters to OPD for 16 specialties, and has 2 Pediatric, 1 Endocrinology, and 1 Psychiatry ward. The hospital is fully licensed by Punjab Healthcare Commission and recognized for Postgraduate training by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan, University of Health Sciences, Lahore, and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, Islamabad. Currently, the Principal of the institute is Professor Zohra Khanum, Professor of Gynaecology who has served various top level institutions Punjab.
Revamping of the hospital, administration and surgery block is under process. Reallocations and addition of services will be done when the revamping is complete.
