The pre-conference workshop of Endo Colloquium 2024
The pre-conference workshop of Endo Colloquium 2024, titled “Diabetic Neuropathy and Diabetic Foot Ulcer” was successfully conducted at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Services Hospital Lahore, on November 12, 2024 under the patronage of Professor Zohra Khanum, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences / Services Hospital Lahore. The event brought together doctors, patients, and faculty members from various medical institutions to address the critical challenges posed by diabetes and its complications.
The workshop featured an insightful lecture by Dr. Adnan Aslam, Associate Professor of Neurology, on the subject of diabetic neuropathy, a common and debilitating complication affecting millions of individuals with diabetes. Dr. Aslam’s expert insights into the early detection and management of diabetic neuropathy emphasized the need for timely intervention and comprehensive care to prevent long-term damage. The workshop on Diabetic Foot was conducted by Dr Sohaib Haider and Dr Ayesha Rafiq who highlighted the medical and surgical management of diabetic foot.
One of the key highlights of the session was the interactive discussion on diabetic foot, including a hands-on workshop on the Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI), a diagnostic tool used to assess the risk of diabetic foot complications. Participants had the opportunity to engage in case-based learning, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world clinical scenarios. The workshop was chaired by Professor Muhammad Aftab and Professor Asif Gul. The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Professor Khadija Irfan Khawaja, Professor of Endocrinology, who highlighted the importance of early detection, prevention, and holistic management of diabetes and its complications.
The workshop underscored the need for continuous education and training for healthcare providers, enabling them to offer the best possible care to individuals living with diabetes.
With diabetes being one of the leading health challenges globally, workshops like these, play a crucial role in raising awareness, enhancing clinical skills, and ultimately, improving the quality of life for people affected by the condition. The workshop received tremendous feedback and marked an important step in the ongoing effort to tackle diabetes-related health issues in Pakistan.
