Brief Introduction of Department of ENT Unit-I The department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck Surgery Unit- I, SIMS/Services Hospital, Lahore, (Previously known as ENT Unit-II from 2005 to March-2022), was established in Services Hospital, Lahore in 2005 by Prof. Dr. Rashid Zia. Later, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mujeeb, was appointed as Professor of ENT in 2006 in this unit and he worked here from (March-2006 to April-2019). Then, the department was also supervised by Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, (April-2019 To Feb-2020) and then Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rohail was appointed and he supervised the unit from (Feb-2020 to Mar-2022). After the transfer of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rohail to Jinnah Hospital, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, once again, took charge and supervised this unit from (Mar-2022 to Nov-2023), till his retirement from Govt. Services. The department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck Surgery Unit- I, SIMS/Services Hospital, Lahore, is now serving under the supervision of Dr. Sarwat Hassan Syed, Associate Professor (ENT), who was appointed in this unit as Associate Professor in Oct-2023 and took charge as The Head of the department on 01-Dec-2023, after the retirement of Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza. This department has offered quality treatment and care to more than 30,000 patients uptil now. This department also attends about 200-300 patients in outpatients department (OPD) on its two OPD Days per week. Moreover, the department also performs 6-8 Major Surgeries under General Anesthesia (GA) on each operation Theater day.

Postgraduate Trainees and House Officers Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck Surgery Unit- I, is a teaching unit and currently, there are 08 Postgraduate trainees of FCPS & MS and 08 House officers are working in this unit.
Undergraduate Students (MBBS) Every year class of around 200 students of 4th Year MBBS is entertained in the department. Class Lectures are delivered by the faculty, While Regular ward classes of each batch are taken apart from the routine class lectures. Surgical Works The department of ENT Unit – I, has a 24 bedded ward and a dedicated High Dependency Unit (HDU). Faculty members are well-trained in Head & Neck Surgeries, Rhinoplasty and Advanced FESS, apart from routine ENT Procedures.
Infrastructure Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck Surgery Unit- I, is having state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes Operating Room equipped with finest instruments of its kind including: Carl Zeiss Operating Microscope, Karl Storz Endoscopes, Bronchoscopy set etc. Outpatient department has 03 Diagnostic Rooms having Otoscopes, Headlights and a Microscope. Ward has also an examination room equipped with 0o, 70o and 30o, Endoscopes, used for the patients routinely. Audiology section is equipped with Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA).
