BRIEF HISTORY & INTRODUCTION 

This unit is attached with Services Institute of Medical Science and is recognized for the under and postgraduate training of MBBS, MS, FCPS and MCPS. The motto of Department is “A tradition of Excellence and Care -Compassionate Care for Women”.

Our department is providing antenatal care including emergency obstetrical & newborn care referred form THQs, RHCs and BHUs. In formal duties department cover two OPDs on Wednesday and Saturday weekly. In OPD 250-350 patients are provided consultations and undergo minor outdoor procedures. Daily delivery rate of the unit varies from 20  to 25 per day. The unit also perform all kinds of surgeries on its allocated theatre days.

Apart from the routine clinical work, academic activities constitute an important part of the responsibilities of the teaching faculty. Faculty is not only clinically competent in dealing with high risk obstetrics including acreta spectrum and cancer surgeries but faculty members are also trained in advance life support, most of them have done their certification in health care education as well.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION  

This the only Gynae department (Unit III), in Punjab, who is dealing with Gynaecological Oncology patients referred from Inmol Hospital and other remote areas of Punjab.  The Gynae Unit III, is actively participating in tumor board meetings, being held fortnightly. Around 200 patients were assessed in last year and more than 90 Gynae-Oncology surgeries has been performed.
