The department comprises of administrative Units: Unit 1 and Unit 2. Each unit offers 60 Pediatric in-patient beds and 30 neonatal cots. Services provided include 24 hours pediatric as well as neonatal emergency service, in-patient and intensive care facilities. Outpatient services include vaccination and general and specialty follow-up clinics. We also offer ambulatory care and designated neonatology clinic for our neonatal ICU graduates.

Pediatrics Unit 1, in addition to neonatal and pediatric critical care, offers subspeciality services in pediatric gastroenterology, nephrology and infectious diseases. Our eight (08) bedded Pediatric ICU is well equipped with ventilators, cardiorespiratory monitors, in house bed-side portable xray and ultrasonographic facilities. In addition, we also offer high dependency care. We run the only Pediatric HIV facility in the entire city.

We have a very busy 30- bedded Neonatology Department that is recognized for Level IV training in Neonatology.  Our Neonatal ICU (NICU) is fully equipped with incubators, ventilators, CPAP, humidified high flow oxygen to manage even the tiniest of babies.

We offer resuscitation and post-natal check up to babies delivered in Services Hospital. Admission facilities are extended to all sick babies who present in our Neonatal emergency. Patients are referred to us from all over Punjab and KPK.

Our department is recognized for training in FCPS and MD in Pediatrics and Neonatology by CPSP and UHS, in addition to Diploma in Childhealth and Membership in Peditrics. Ours is one of the most sought-after training programme. During the recent COVID pandemic we started a very robust online teaching programme using Moodle as LMS. We offer daily teaching sessions for our post-graduate trainees that include invited lectures, practice session for long and short case presentations and journal club meetings. A weekly mortality meeting is held to audit all deaths occurring during previous week.

The Department offers great opportunity for research and currently has several ongoing research projects.

In the past year various team members have managed to publish several articles and case reports in different prestigious journals.

Our teaching staff includes Professor and Dean Faculty of Pediatrics, one Associate Professor each in Pediatrics and Neonatology, one Assistant Professor,  four Senior Registrars and two Fellows in Neonatology.
