Introduction of Department
Surgical Unit 2 at Services Hospital Lahore is a state-of-the-art facility that stands out for its commitment to advanced medical care. In addition to managing a diverse range of cases from the Outpatient Department (OPD) and Emergency, the unit specializes in handling benign and oncologic cases in the OPD.
The Emergency team is highly vigilant and adept at managing various urgent cases, aligning with the unit's primary goal of providing standardized healthcare to all patients. Notably, Surgical 2 is equipped with cutting-edge facilities, including Ultrasound, endoscopy, and colonoscopy. This not only eases the patient load on other departments but also contributes to minimizing patient stay.
As a tertiary care unit, Surgical 2 goes beyond patient care by actively participating in the training of residents and House officers. The department's commitment to education is evident through daily academic ward rounds and workshops conducted throughout the year.
The unit takes pride in its initiatives, such as fortnightly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDTs), demonstrating a dedication to fostering inter-departmental coherence, standardized care, and the establishment of a cancer registry. Moreover, Surgical 2 leads the way in the development of surgical oncology as a distinct specialty. Additionally, the inclusion of advanced laparoscopic procedures, laser proctology, and a simulation lab further positions Surgical 2 as a flagship in innovative healthcare practices.
